Gaff Point Trail Hike and Dinner

  • Carpool meets at the Holy Cross Chaplaincy Centre (LA 183) (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Gaff Point is a headland on the South Shore where the spruce runs right out to the Atlantic. We will carpool from the Chaplaincy Centre at Saint Mary’s, hike the loop, take our time, and come back for dinner together. Mass may be offered on the day.

Bring proper footwear, a water bottle, and a jacket you do not mind the wind getting into. If the weather turns against us, the hike moves to Saturday, October 31, hike only, with no dinner that day.

Jubilee Walking Pilgrimage

Jubilee Walking Pilgrimage

Pope Francis designated 2025 to be a Jubilee year with the theme Pilgrims of Hope. A Jubilee is a time of great grace and blessings for the faithful and various spiritual exercises are set up by the Church to help us in our walk with God. One such exercise is that of a Pilgrimage - a journey both physically and spiritually to an important destination.

Our Pilgrimage will lead us from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Dartmouth to Saint Mary's Cathedral-Basilica, where we'll have time for a tour of the building and for a para-Liturgical service. Participation in the Pilgrimage (along with a Mass and confession within 2 weeks) grants a plenary indulgence - the full removal of temporal punishment for sin.

Participants should come with clothes you feel comfortable walking in and pack your own lunch. You're also encouraged to bring a notebook and a water bottle. You will need to find a way back from the Cathedral to Dartmouth if you plan to leave your car at Our Lady of Guadalupe. The walk should take between 1.5 and 2 hours, for a total of roughly 5 kilometres (three stops included).
